THE BRAND

La Boticá Studios is a conceptual brand and niche fragrance house providing curated, luxury and sustainable products for the intentional self care ritual. We source indigenous ingredients from South America that give reverence to the earth.

Inspired by architecture, contemporary art, and Afro-Dominican culture, La Boticá creates and develops a range of sustainable, intentional objects of home fragrance, perfume and incense. Bringing together modern ritual and La Cultura.

La Boticá performs small-scale manufacturing by making products in lower volumes at our studio in Long Island City. Working with manufacturers specializing in small quantities allows for building small-scale production lines that benefit local communities and La Boticá's body of work.

About the Founder

Dawn Marie West is an Art Director and Fine Art Photographer from Queens, New York, with 15 years of experience in visual arts. She earned a degree in Photography from the Academy of Art University, where she developed her technical skills. After completing her studies, Dawn went on to serve as operations supervisor at The International Center of Photography in New York City.

Inspired by her Afro-Dominican culture, Dawn Marie founded La Boticá in 2018, a concept brand that combines luxury perfumery with contemporary art to create a unique fragrance experience. As a self-taught perfumer, she views fragrance as a medium of storytelling, much like visual art. This creative philosophy is the framework of her fragrance collections to evoke the spirit of her culture. Her debut collection, The Subtropics, artfully conveys the richness and diversity of her Dominican roots while exploring the intricacies of identity through scent.

La Boticá Studios has amassed a loyal following and received recognition in several prominent publications, including Vogue, Architectural Digest, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, The Zoe Report, and Forbes.

The fragrance brand's growing influence was highlighted when its highly acclaimed scent, Soho, received the 2023 Essence Best in Beauty Award: Best Scent, solidifying its position as a strong contender in the fragrance industry.
